Bitfury Hires Former Binance US Chief Brian Brooks as CEO: Report


Bitcoin mining firm Bitfury has employed former Binance US chief Brian Brooks as its new CEO, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.

  • Brooks is changing Valery Vavilov, who will keep on as Bitfury’s “chief vision officer,” the report stated.
  • Bitfury didn’t instantly reply to CoinDesk’s request to substantiate the appointment.
  • The appointment comes weeks after information emerged that Bitfury was planning to go public within the subsequent 12 months in what could be Europe’s greatest cryptocurrency valuation.
  • The Amsterdam-based agency is regarded as valued at $1 billion.
  • After simply 4 months with Binance US, Brooks resigned in August citing “differences over strategic direction,” between him and his colleagues.
  • His appointment had been seen as an indication that the infamously opaque Binance was looking for a picture of higher transparency by way of hiring well-regarded regulators to senior roles.
  • Brooks had beforehand served as the performing controller of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the regulator for U.S. nationwide banks, between May 2020 and January 2021.
