Kazakhstan’s Crypto Miners Face New Regulations After Contributing to Power Shortages


In a Nov. 4 interview with native information outlet Tengrin News, Minister of Energy Magzum Myrzagaliev mentioned that Kazakhstan’s electrical energy demand had been steadily rising by 1%-2% yearly till about 10 months in the past. Starting 2021, demand has grown 8%, or about 1,000MW-1,200MW, which Myrzagaliev mentioned was due to crypto mining.
